Dodge Challenger Scatpack 1320, the street dragster
Dodge announced the continuation of the Challenger SRT Demon legacy but this time on the track of drag racing, with a more affordable base acceleration machine that still delivers a powerful quarter-mile punch.
The R / T Scat Pack 1320 Challenger is a development of the regular R / T Challenger, named after the number of feet in a quarter of a mile. It is designed to take advantage of some technologies derived from the Demon version to minimize this essential sprint time, without reaching the price of its big brother Hellcat Redeye.
A naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V8 sends a shockwave of 485 hp and 475 lb-ft to the rear wheels via an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
Dodge says the car will break the quarter mile in 11.7 seconds at a final speed of 185 km / h. That’s 0.3 seconds less than the usual Scat Pack time and makes the 1320 the fastest legal race car you can buy – at least below anything that has a forced induction . The sprint 0-100 km / h flies in just 3.8 seconds.
The SRT adaptive damping suspension is located under the Challenger arches. On the front fenders, you’ll see a new interpretation of the old Dodge Super Bee logo, known here as the Angry Bee. The same graphic appears in the instrument group and the headlights.
You’ll need to be patient however, since this super machine will be available only in limited numbers.
