Electric Jeep, soon to be the best SUV

Since a vast majority of automobile manufacturers have revealed a greener action plan, the electric vehicle market has become increasingly competitive. This is truly excellent news for consumers, since they will have access to more choices, and more opportunities to meet their needs and their budget! It will soon be time for the very first electric Jeep to throw its hat in the ring as well.
Find out more about the future best electric SUV with your dealership for the greater Montreal area, here to tell you everything you should know about Stellantis’ ambitious goals.
Stellantis’ ambitious goals
The Stellantis group may have been a bit more discreet than others as the electric revolution was underway, but today, it is willing and ready for a major overhaul. Changes should be quick and decisive, showing us that the brand is all in and showing no signs of stopping any time soon!
The Jeep brand is taking center stage, with vehicles that are true off-road champions, always ready for adventure. In fact, Stellantis’ first course of action has been determining a 2025 deadline: by then, all Jeep models will have at least one electric counterpart. Between now and then, two future 100 % electric models are already well underway.

By 2030, the brand has set a second milestone: having launched 75 more new electric vehicle models. This plan was named the “Dare Forward Plan”, focused on a major electric overhaul, whether it is by transforming current models or simply creating brand new ones.
This has already begun, not only with strong brands like Jeep and RAM, but soon we will see other electric models appear as well, like with Chrysler, Dodge, Maserati and Alfa Romeo. Please also take note that the first electric RAM 1500 already has everyone talking, thanks to the impressive performance it offers.
The brand’s goals culminate in 2038, where the plan is aiming at reaching zero CO2 emissions by then!
Canada is at the heart of the action
Moreover, major investments will be made in North America where, between now and 2030, 50 % of sales should be electric vehicles only. This goal will be supported by the groups’ other projects like, for example, the opening of a battery factory for electric vehicles in Canada.
In fact, Stellantis is planning on investing massive amounts of money here: the brand has recently revealed investments as high as 3.6 billion dollars in Canada in order to accelerate the electric overhaul. All in all, investments should reach no less than 8.6 billion!
Canadian investments will obviously represent but a part of the funds dedicated to Stellantis’ electric vehicles. But in any case, we can only expect more innovative and particularly interesting vehicle models to be part of our future. The very first electric Jeep SUV will be making an appearance in the midst of this very crucial time. Production will begin by the end of this year.
An electric SUV that is better than the competition
Firstly¸ we still know very little about the first electric Jeep, for which we have mostly seen images of the exterior. It could be a completely new model, although some car experts are hinting at the possibility that it will actually be an electric version of a pre-existing model, like the Cherokee for example.

One thing that seems a little clearer, is that in terms of size, it should be part of the compact SUV category, which means it will be facing fierce competition. In fact, there are already a few electric vehicles in this category like, for example:
- The Volkswagen ID.4
- The Nissan Ariya
- The Hyundai Ioniq 5
- The Kia EV6
Even if these are indeed interesting models, the new Jeep will be even more performant still. Instead of offering an electric range that is generally anywhere in between 350 and 450 km, the American SUV promises to reach around 500 km.
However, it is true that some of the competition reaches an impressive number when it comes to electric range as well. So why choose Jeep? The American Vehicle also promises a lot in terms of power and performance. Even the smallest Jeep SUV models are specially designed for off-road adventure, which is not something that mots electric vehicle models can claim!
Moreover, after this first compact SUV model, an electric Jeep designed specifically for off-road driving will be next. Stellantis is allowing rumors to run wild… It could very well be an electric version of the Wrangler.
When we compare Jeep models to their rivals, it is important to also take note of all of the integrated technologies that are extremely enjoyable to use, like the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, for example, which is extremely intuitive and quick. We can expect electric models to be just as well equipped in terms of technologies as their fuel counterparts.
For the time being, the first electric model should hit the market early 2023. The prototype shows an urban and modern style that clearly integrates typical Jeep traits, like the seven vertical slots in the front grille.
As for details about the electric motor, the interior and the battery, you can expect to be getting more news very soon!
A green movement well under way
The Jeep brand may not be offering loads of electric models yet, but the two first plug-in hybrid vehicles are very promising and definitely give us an idea of what we can expect from the future. In fact, the Jeep Wrangler hybrid and the Grand Cherokee 4xe have certainly shown us that the brand can keep offering optimal performance without any compromise.
Both have a 17 kWh battery and a 2.0 L 4- cylinder turbocharged engine, and offer 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. maximum torque! Other than power, the waterproof battery allows the vehicle to drive over waterbeds that can be up to 24- inches deep for the Grand Cherokee, and 30- inches deep for the Wrangler.
Both plug-in hybrid models can also drive in full electric mode without compromising on performance in any way. The Rubicon version was tested on extremely rugged terrain and withstood the challenge without a single drop of fuel!
While we are waiting for the very first fully electric Jeep SUV, these hybrid versions will help you reduce your fuel consumption while allowing you to take full advantage of the performance we have come to expect from the brand. When it comes to the Wrangler, fuel consumption numbers are as low as 4.8 L/100 km in hybrid mode, and this number drops even lower, to 4.1 L to be exact, for the very luxurious Grand Cherokee.
All-wheel drive systems like the Rock-Trac, the Quadra-Trac II or the Quadra-Drive II will provide you with solid performance in all road conditions, or off the beaten path.

All in all, Stellantis’ projects and goals already allow us to predict that we will soon have access to the very best electric SUV with this first Jeep model without a heat engine.
